Licensed Psychologist

Hello, I’m Dr. Moe, co-owner and a licensed psychologist here at Resolve. We are a small business and have attempted to set up the clinic in a way that maximizes comfort and minimizes “stuffiness”.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, walking our two dogs (both rescues), watching sports, listening to podcasts and audiobooks, attending heavy metal concerts, and finding humor in day to day experiences. When I want to feel less good, I spend time considering and discussing politics.

I received my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Dakota in December 2009.

My areas of special clinical interests are the treatment of trauma-related disorders, personality disorders, depression, and anxiety in adults. I describe myself as “aggressively non-judgmental,” given my understanding that reaching out for help can be challenging. I believe that the process of seeking and receiving help is reflective of strength rather than weakness, and want my patients to transition out of therapy feeling confident, healthy, and motivated to move forward in the direction of their choosing.

I firmly believe that EVERYONE deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. Sometimes it is others who berate and devalue us. Other times, we berate and devalue ourselves. To achieve the sense of peace we are seeking, we must ensure that both of these issues are addressed.

My approach to psychotherapy is straightforward, direct, and motivationally-based. Although generalized supportive approaches are used, my primary goal is to help patients identify and directly address the problems causing distress.

I primarily use cognitive and behavioral interventions to address the symptoms being reported by patients and believe that directly addressing problematic thoughts and behaviors will bring about the fastest results. Given this, my feedback is generally direct, and sometimes blunt. In practice, what this means is that if you tell me that you are either doing or thinking something that is unhelpful, I tend to simply point that out.

I look forward to meeting with you.

Office Manager

Hey, I'm Janna, the office manager here at Resolve!

My role is to help connect you with the right provider, walk you through all of the fun agreements and paperwork, schedule, and to help you with billing and payments.

Let me tell you a little about me. I am equally analytical and methodical, and creative and artistic, a simple person by intention, and a minimalist at heart. I have crazy, unruly hair, and you will most often find me with my hair piled on the top of my head. I live in sweatpants, but try and put on real pants when I come to the office. Please know that this is not guaranteed. I am married to a wonderfully sweet and caring man whom always has my back. Andy and I have four boys, Gabe, Sam, Jude, and Drew. They are ridiculously cute, utterly fantastic, and funny (really, really funny). We have a three-year-old Cocker Spaniel named Lennon. I haven’t met many dogs in my life, but Lennon has to be the happiest dog I have ever met. He actually smiles and gives my children human-like hugs. I am a self-taught photographer with a photography business here in Fargo-Moorhead.

I can't wait to meet you!

Cymba

Office Cat

Howdy, y’all! I’m Cymba. I hail from the West but hitched a ride back to Fargo with Ms. Janna. She apparently named me Cymbalta Mary-Kate Butterscotch, which is why everyone calls me Cymba instead. I am part mountain lion and part billy goat.I love growling and climbing! I had a tough time adjusting to life at Resolve, with being inside and that nosy black cat, Siggy. Thankfully, the humans made me feel so welcome that now I feel at home. And Siggy is my new best friend.

Being a “therapy cat” is a totally new job for me. Mousing? I’m the best. Making a mess? I’m a Meowlympian. But sitting in someone’s lap for a whole hour? Oh man. I’m working on it. I really love people and like a good snuggle, but it’s hard to sit still that long! My favorite thing to do is look out everyone’s windows and watch outside. I also really love cheesy puffs and dropping toys in my water bowl. I like the challenge!

I hope I can meet you when you are in the office. I’ll probably let you pet me and I might even kiss your nose!

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor

Hi, I’m Jamie, co-owner, executive director, and a licensed professional clinical counselor here at Resolve. We started our practice in 2016, and are proud of how it has grown and the exceptional team we have been fortunate to pull together.

You will always find me with a cup of coffee in my hand and a smile on my face. Raising my children to be good humans is my top priority and watching them grow is my greatest joy. My son is smart and analytical and looks just like his dad, and my daughter is sassy and imaginative and looks just like me. If you ever run into us, it will most likely be at an ice cream shop or pretty much any sporting event. The kids and I love to travel, zipping to Chicago often, but also enjoy staying at home on “lazy Sundays.”

I did my undergraduate work in secondary education at the University of North Dakota before teaching high school in Grand Forks, ND and Chicago, IL. As a teacher, I found that the most rewarding aspects of my job did not necessarily include academics. While teaching in Chicago, I started going to work early and staying late to avoid traffic. During these times before and after school, I ended up with a classroom full of kids that needed a safe space, food, and someone to believe in them. I became invested in their wellbeing and was known for my fearless support of their lives and encouragement for them to accomplish what they were never setup to achieve. Still today, I keep in contact and continue to support many of “my kids” and love watching them succeed. I unofficially adopted a son and daughter that started as two of my students and are now part my family.

This experience motivated me to go back to school in my thirties with two small children at home, something I don’t necessarily recommend. We opened Resolve, moved into a different house, and I started graduate school within a span of two weeks. I definitely do not recommend that! I completed my graduate work at the University of Mary, receiving a MS in counseling in 2018.

My goal as a therapist is to empower individuals to become the best version of themselves. I do not believe in one-size-fits-all therapy and see each individual as unique and believe a therapist’s approach should be as well. My approach includes aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution focused therapy, and EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing).

I understand that it is often difficult to move past issues, traumatic events, or insecurities, and strive to provide a warm, non-judgmental environment, where anyone can feel comfortable opening up and working on themselves.

Siggy

Office Cat

Hi! I am Siggy, and I’m new around here. The humans say I’m the “office cat”, so you might see me when you see your therapist, or running super fast throughout the building. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. My formal name is Sigmund Midnight Tootboots. I am part mini black panther and part Labrador Retriever. When I am not snuggling with the humans or zooming, I really love to eat! I am not picky but my favorites so far are sausage pizza or roast beef sandwiches. I’m also a pretty good singer, so I’ve been practicing when I have some privacy. I’d love to drop an album someday!
